We explain how our stand-alone photovoltaic kits work
☀️ An off-grid solar system, also known as an off-grid system, is an autonomous energy system that generates and uses electricity without being connected to the national grid. It's the ideal solution for isolated homes, mountain cabins, campers, boats, or anyone seeking complete energy independence.
⚙️ How does it work?
An off-grid system converts solar energy into electricity and stores it for later use. The main components include:
-
Photovoltaic panels: capture solar energy and convert it into direct current (DC).
-
Storage batteries: they store the energy produced for use during night hours or in low light conditions.
-
Inverter: converts the direct current from batteries and solar panels into alternating current (AC), suitable for powering household appliances, therefore at 230V.
All our off-grid inverters, from 1kW and above, include an internal charge regulator, allowing the unit to manage charging completely independently. They can also be connected to the electrical grid to recharge the batteries or supply power to loads in low sunlight or at night if the batteries are low. In this case, the inverter will interact with the electrical grid like a normal household appliance, without feeding ANYTHING into the grid, bypassing the grid itself, thus being COMPLETELY compliant. It will automatically disconnect from the grid as soon as the need for power is no longer present.
Some systems also include a backup generatorto ensure power in the event of a prolonged lack of sun. This will be controlled to always turn on automatically by the inverter via a "dry contact" as well as to turn off.
🏡 When is it best to install it?
An off-grid photovoltaic kit is particularly advantageous when:
-
There is no connection to the mains power or when
-
You want to reduce or eliminate energy bill costs.
-
We are looking for an ecological and sustainable alternative for energy production.
-
You want to ensure power supply in remote areas or during emergencies.
✅ Advantages
-
Energy autonomy: total independence from the electricity grid.
-
Economic savings: elimination of fixed costs of bills.
-
Environmental sustainability: use of renewable energy and reduction of CO₂ emissions.
-
Flexibility: adaptable to different needs and situations.
- No permits or GSE registrations are required. You can install it professionally, freely, without having to declare anything.
⚠️Important Considerations
-
Correct sizing: It is essential to accurately calculate the energy requirement to choose an appropriate system.
-
Maintenance: Only acid batteries require periodic checks to ensure efficiency and longevity. This does not apply to GEL, AGM, or lithium-ion batteries.
-
Initial investment: costs are amortized over time very quickly thanks to savings on bills.
📌 Conclusion
An off-grid photovoltaic kit is an effective solution for those seeking energy independence, cost savings, and environmental sustainability. With careful planning and proper maintenance, a reliable and long-lasting power supply is guaranteed.
